Every year I talk about this. Every year I dream about this. Every year I thank Luther Burbank for Santa Rosa plums. It's one of those things that people get so excited about. It has a very short delicious season. It's about two maybe three weeks depending on where you are in the county. And they are perfect as a plum. They're sweet and wonderful with a little bit of a tart in the skin.
It's purpley on the outside and orangey yellow in the inside and they're stupid good. You will see them at farmers' markets. You will see them in the grocery store sometimes, if it's a good one, and you will enjoy them. Please, please, please, put them in a pie. No, just put them in your mouth. Santa Rosa plums are a gift. Savoring Sonoma, I'm Clark Wolf for KRCB.
