It may have taken a bit of time to get here, but summer has arrived. And it can be awfully warm. I'm not somebody who likes to cook in the warm of the evening, even if it's cool inside. I've had a hot day, my body is warm, and I want something refreshing and crisp and wonderful. And that's why we are so lucky here to have so much that can go into a great salad. We have locally made, handmade mozzarella. We have glorious tomatoes.
We have every kind of leaf you ever thought of. I live in the woods and it so happens that the hillside is covered with wild sorrel, which makes a nice little zippy addition. Arugula is really a winter weed, but in fact we have it around all the time and little gems are gems. Have a salad for dinner. Savoring Sonoma, I'm Clark Wolf for KRCB.
