PG&E implements what it calls Public Safety Power Shutoffs to power down equipment in areas where there are weather conditions that could spark wildfires. Starting Wednesday and continuing into Thursday, PG&E officials said shutoffs are likely in 10 counties, including Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Monterey and San Joaquin.
PG&E spokesperson Tamar Sarkissian said 3,083 customers have been notified in Monterey County and 2,017 in Marin County about the potential shutoffs. There are 75 customers in Alameda County, 70 in Contra Costa County and 33 in San Joaquin County who have also been notified, Sarkissian said.
According to the National Weather Service, there are elevated fire weather concerns through Thursday in the Bay Area because of above-normal temperatures, low humidity levels and gusty winds.

Marin County officials said they were told by PG&E that planned shutoffs could take place in portions of Mill Valley, Kentfield and San Anselmo by 2 p.m. Wednesday and last into Thursday, and that the affected customers will mostly be in the Mill Valley area.
According to Monterey County spokesperson Maia Carroll, the shutoffs there could affect the southern part of the county and part of Carmel Valley between Wednesday morning and Thursday evening.
